I guess I missed the hellfire...I just don't understand why they used such....small....guns on those guys. Probably to limit collateral damage, I suppose.

Scratch that, that is bad information. Looking at the recent buy from Alliant, it appears that AGM-114s cost about $35,000 per.

I still remember going thru an AC-130 that landed here at Fort Sill many years ago. That one had twin 20mm Vulcans, a 40mm Bofors and a 105mm Howitzer. The crew cheif gave me one of the 105mm shell casings as a souvenir. I still have that casing today. I use it as a trash can in my gun room.

105s are nice for light work, I suppose. I'll give them this, that semi-cased format does up the ROF quite a bit if you can plan out your fire mission.

The bodies didn't disappear, they are 'lost' in the heat bloom/signature created by the impact and explosion of the 30mm rounds. If they were to zoom in, you would see something. As for the guys hit by the Hellfire...the parts left are too small to register and/or the heat splash is even bigger.

Even at only $35,000, that seems to be a lot of overkill for one man.
