One cool thing (no pun intended) is that when the friendly troops show up on the FLIR you can tell that their clothing is made to limit the IR signature. The taliban guys look like flashlights in comparison.

Use whatever weapon at your disposal which has the highest probability of achieving an effect. Maybe range to target was an issue, or maybe there were blue forces downrange of where the rounds would have struck. Perhaps that was the only weapon available to the gunner at the time with a ready status.

I have noticed a lot of comments lately from different individuals about the tendency of this site to trash other members in situations like this. Now I have a better understanding.

Just for your informantion, the comparable weapon in my time was a 3.5 rocket launcher. It didn't have a video screen. Perhaps that explains why I wear a dunce cap.
