Same here. Nothing mature last 3 days. Seeing minor chasing but scrapes active and everything I keep hearing is it’s on. Eastern Oklahoma has a lot showing up dead on the highways, only seen one in nw part of the state. Is it weird my rut judgement partially comes from dead highway deer? Lol
I do the same. Especially when my cell cam isn’t working or I can’t get out to check trail cams.

I just had a 2 1/2 year old 8 pt come screaming by with his tongue hanging out. Came down the trail straight at me and ran between my ladder and the tree I’m in.

Don't you just love seeing that kind of thing? Makes the whole trip worthwhile, whether you see any shooters or not. Good luck!

Yes! The time out here is better than the kill most times.

I had a doe and twin fawns in front of me for 1 1/2 hours this morning. At one point, the twins decided to nurse and I felt sorry for that poor doe. One on each side nursing so aggressively that they were lifting their poor mama’s back two legs off the ground.

Two of us hunted yesterday morning. The other hunter saw one small 8 and I saw nothing. I hunted again this morning and again I saw nothing. I'm south of bristow and I have two friends who also hunted this morning and they both had good action in the Stillwater area.

This time of the year it’s always a guess where I hunt at you might not see anything for a few days and then it’s like they just appear out of no where chasing and going crazy then nothing again just have to be there at the right time and there isn’t any way of knowing when that is but usually when I’m at work

Shot my first black powder deer this morning. Shot at about 45 yards and piled up after going about 80 or so.
Not a big fan of dressing a deer in 80 degree weather. Other than that, it was a beatiful morning.

Here you go, retrieverman!
First shot was a little off, rushed. Spine hit laid him down cold, but he was not dead. After raising his head to look around for a minute like he wanted to get up, I put another arrow through the lungs.
8 points with a funky crooked one.View attachment 232454
Congrats MG! You've had some rough seasons but this one seems to be the best yet!
