My buddy smokes and deer walk up to him.
I was talking 50 75 yards from him calling it quits and began walking to my buddy and a deer followed behind me about 15 feet inside the woods all the way to my friend .
He missed the shot at around 25 feet.

I am taking a 9 volt radio shack transistor radio into the woods this year and set it down and turn it on and see if that whitetail curiosity comes to investigate it.

Bow season decades ago I was all in camo as was my buddy and we get setup in a clover field at Lex.
Nothing seen all day.
He told me my face stood out like a giant pumpkin in the woods I was nuzzled into.

I seen his face also but he is darker complected.
But he was right it was bright and out of place and if you make movements you can really see it.

Next day way before sunup we go into the woods, I have a camo face net now.

I told him I would be in the same spot.
I did not go there.
I let him get into his spot and I stayed right where he began walking away from me.
I let the sun come up before I began slowly moving towards him.
It was about 40 yards.
By 11AM or so he was very restless and I could see he was trying to see me.
He would look beside and behind himself looking for any deer or movement also.
(figity)

He looked right at me over a dozen times and did not see me sneaking up on him.
I was 10 feet from him before he realized that bush should not be that close.

F---%^^^ how long have you been there.
All morning and you never seen me.

Camo works.

What does not work is walking into the woods way before the sun comes up because we came face to face (4 feet) from a big racked buck that was at the edge of the field we were hunting and it bolted.

I now wait until there is plenty of shooting light before i head into the woods.
I kill way more deer that way and never spook one up.

I’ll never understand people that wear camo head to toe and sit in box stands. All I can figure is that they want to be inconspicuous as they climb the ladder and close the door to the stand.
You’re absolutely correct in your statement…………NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wear my camouflage clothes to my box blinds because I’m too damn old (70) and just smart enough to know that I have no business trying to climb into a ladder stand or hanging stand with my knee and back problems, just so I can wear my camo. And I’m not one of those guys who wears their camouflage clothes to town to take care of business. So I wear them to my stands because that’s the only time of year I wear them. Haven’t bought any new camouflage in years but just trying to get my money’s worth out of them and wear them out.

I can tell you that duck blinds aren’t only for hunting…

Is that an electronic call?

If I ate that kind of breakfast in the duck blind, there had better be a toilet close by.
