I thought ar 10s chamber anything based off of a 308!
The beauty of the WSSM series is that they run great in the AR-15 platform as they are an inch shorter.
The cartridges in this family are, in order of development:

NameYearBullet diameterNotes
.223 WSSM2002.224 in. (5.69 mm)performance similar to .220 Swift and 22-250
.243 WSSM2003.243 in. (6.17 mm)performance similar to 6 mm Remington and .243 winchester
.25 WSSM2004.257 in. (6.53 mm)performance similar to .257 Roberts and .25-06 Remington
6.5 WSSM

The rounds can be loaded much higher velocities than this chart. Like earlier said, the factory WSSM rounds are about 100 fps faster than long action bolt guns. Reloads much faster.
New powders developed for short fat cartridges like RL-17 up the speed while retaining safe pressures.

Same here! I'm in the market for 2k and thought I was screwed 😅
I thought god was sending me a message 🤣, “ look at the ammo market, my son”. My dad was the big gun guy in the family. Only reason I have all of this. I remember him saying 20 something years ago about 50 cal being $1 a bullet. I can only imagine what it is today.

I remember getting 7.62x39 for 8 cents per round and seeing 50bmg at $1 and thinking "who could afford that?"

Now it's what .308 cost
