It’s also interesting that in some cultures it’s a religious symbol and also depending on which way it’s facing can have different meanings. There’s an older house near the stockyards that has the Swastika built into the brickwork facing the street. I’d love to know the history of that old house.

For the Navajo's, it represents good fortune and health. We call it the "whirling logs." It is a story about a young Navajo leaving the tribe during a great sickness. During his rafting, the water broke up his raft and make that symbol. He was sucked into another world, fought monsters, and brought the cure back to the tribe. As you can imagine, many of the elders are starting to wear the whirling log symbol again, especially during this pandemic, which has hit the tribe very hard.

There is a house down the street from me that has tiles on the front of it containing swastikas. It was made in the 1920's before the symbol was taken by the Nazis. I hope they don't ever remove them as it is really interesting to see them.

The Aviary (a dang good breakfast places in Springfield, MO) has them in the tiles as well. Probably from the same era.

Funny how symbols and pictures can get such childish, rabid responses from people. Commies were the bad guys then, and are to this day, but the Hammer and Sickle doesn't provoke much of a response compared to the Swastika. Shows what the media can do, for sure.
