yep...loved that show. I think it was that show that made me want and M1 carbine.....think the Lt carried it. Reminded me of Vic's demise. So I read, while shooting a scene for a Viet Nam movie, a pyrotechnic for the scene caused a helicopter's rotors to delaminate causing it to crash......decapitating Vic and killing 2 others.

You are close, the movie was "Twilight Zone: The Movie". If I remember correctly, the helicopter crashed shooting a flashback to VietNam scene. Or something like that.

I was in California for a short visit when that happened. When the helicopter went down Vic Morrow and two child actors who were playing the parts of Vietnamese children were killed.

Did they show "the" helicopter scene?
I could find very little that actually answered that question, but a couple of articles said no, and one of them said all scenes involving the two children were cut out of the movie. It does seem like that rumor went around for a while though. I have vague memories of Morrow carrying the two children and the helicopter crashing, but they may have been from video of the incident, rather than from the movie. I'm not sure.

Here is some more information about the incident.

Speaking of Vic Morrow,,,

A few days ago I saw a $5.00 DVD at Wal Mart,,,
It had 4 westerns on it and one was a childhood favorite.

I bought the DVD for the Movie, McKenna's Gold,,,
30 seconds of Julie Newmar swimming nude was worth a 5-spot.

The DVD also had a James Stewart movie, The Man from Laramie,,,
I didn't think Mr. Stewart could make a bad movie,,,
But this one absolutely sucked.

The 3rd movie was a James Garner movie, A Man Called Sledge,,,
It played like a bad Spaghetti Western even with Dennis Weaver as a co-star.

That movie was directed and co-written by Vic Morrow,,,
He should have stayed in front of the camera.

The 4th movie is some mountain man movie with Charlton Heston,,,
I'm almost afraid to watch it.

Still,,, Julie Newmar!

Yes, A Man from Laramie is BAAAAAAAAAAD!

A Man Called Sledge was barely ok, but not a good character for Garner.

McKenna Gold is a good one made even better by that swimming hole scene.

Heston is always worth a watch.
