Ok... here's another couple questions.

1. Does this kit include everything needed except for a stripped lower?

2. If so, does it appear to be a good kit (especially the 1:9 barrel twist)?

Thanks.

Does it appear to have everything required?
Except for the lower and you already knew that.
Down the road, depending on the optics you may or may not wish to install, the charging handle may need to be upgraded to one with a longer handle if the scope blocks easy access to it. Some scopes require it, some not. If you stay with irons, your golden.

Thanks, but I have more questions... :/

1. What should I expect to pay for 5.56 or .223 ammo? Per box and per thousand. Or per round maybe?

2. I'm seeing ammo brands I'm not familiar with (IMI, PMC, Geco, Black Hills, etc.). Are there brands I should avoid?

3. I've read that the "green-tipped" ammo may be less accurate than others. Why would I want green-tipped ammo anyway?

Lol, the more I research, the more it becomes apparent how little I know about ARs...

I don't shoot anything steel cased in any gun. Some have success, but I don't care.
Go to SGammo.com and check their bulk ammo prices. They are in Stillwater, so shipping is close.
.223 ammo is getting cheap again. I'd suggest waiting a bit before making a thousand round buy. I don't think prices have hit bottom yet.
I use the SG Ammo site as a bellwether of bulk pricing, and he keeps going down.
