I agree with a lot of the posts in this thread. If you can't replace it for the same price as you are selling it for then it is considered a bargain. But who in their right mind would do that? I'm still kicking myself for selling a python. Dummy.

It all depends on supply vs demand. A item is in high demand, triple the amount of people that normally buy said item now want the same item, there is limited supply, prices are going to increase to attempt to slow down or even stop the rush on said item.

I saw it happen with lumber this year, dear god I have sold at least twice or triple the board feet in lumber this year than in the last several years. It was to the point that supply could not keep up and we were out of stock for months on some items and prices shot thru the roof. Things are settling down now and starting to get back to normal but it has taken months to get past the shut down of the country.

Heres another, recently I posted a rifle for sale. A 30-30, the rifle, scope, mounts and a case of ammo. I was asking $1000 for the package. I got a few not so cheerful messages that I was way to high and was taking advantage of the current situation.
Lets see here, I paid around $550 for the rifle IIRC, in 2018, the scope is a Leupold, also had to buy the base and rings, ammo was a case that cost me $200 shipped.

$550 rifle
$300 scope base and rings
$200 ammo, federal fusion
$950 give or take with tax. I dont think $1000 for the package was out of line, others did, so I pulled the ad, said screw it I will keep it, maybe never shoot it again, maybe I will, but if things continue as they are that price will only get higher I assure you. Cant replace it if its not available to buy again if I sell it.

Now I am not complaining just trying to be a voice of reason in this wilderness.

imagine an employer asking you to come in because they are overwhelmed and short handed. They are willing to pay 3x the previous rate and you say nah just give me my normal wages I don’t want to take advantage of the times lol
