I have a pair of Ft Lewis go devil boots I bought in 1989. Still have the original soles and look nearly new other than the toe crease. Usually wore Corcoran jump boots until the switch to tan. After that i wore out a pair of the GTX in about 12 months. Have a couple pair of hiking boots, too. The only boots I'll wear are Danners.
Quality has suffered through the years Wore the exclusively for years on PD rotating replacing the soles with buying new Replaced every 2 years They were used relentlessly
Redwings are excellent as are Whites . Were I out cutting trees for a living or some such activity I would own another pair of Red Wings in a heart beat , very tough shoe for the money
I wear Redwings for work because my company gets a discount and they pay for them, only Redwings with safety toes, though since their HQ is down the street from one of our large plants.
I have a pair of Danner lace up “tactical hiking boot” that I wear in my off time that I bought on my own dime in Midwest City @ Top Tier Tactical that have been great for about two years. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
