Got away from redwings about 10-15 years ago when they changed something up on the US assembled boots. They no longer fit me or felt good.
i went to Thoughrogood after that and have 3-4 pair of those currently for
work. They've went up about $50-$75 in the last 2 years.
figured I would try these Danners since they are my size.
Couldn't pass them up for the price.

Bought these about 5 years ago and while they haven’t been used a ton I’m quite happy with them. A little on the heavy side but built like a tank.

Redwings are excellent as are Whites . Were I out cutting trees for a living or some such activity I would own another pair of Red Wings in a heart beat , very tough shoe for the money
I’ve been looking at White’s, Frank’s or Nick’s, but haven’t pulled the trigger because I’d rather go up and be fitted in store.

Wolverine Duroshocks $169 at bootBarn on feet White's Hathorn Explorer $350 at White's on Deck, use them both as needed, both broke in quickly White's were on sale a year ago $230 today there $350 Wolverine Duroshocks still $169 at the BootBarn.

In the White's they run large so if your normal shoe size is 10 order a 9-1/2.

I concur with most of the above comments. If they do fit, and look to be in relatively good shape, check those soles immediately. Those type of soles tend to decompose over time, and may look good, but in short order, sometime less that 5 minutes, they'll be falling apart when you start walking. They can have a new sole glued on (per military style with the hard foam and a Vibram sole) but the midsole and footbed can't be replaced if they aren't recraftable. Proceed with caution.
you called it.
these didn't make it 3 miles!
it's too bad because the insides and uppers look fantastic, almost new.

At least with the other 2 pair they are rebuildable.
thanks everyone! I learned something

That is crazy - JEV what gave it away? I used to wear boots all the time but rarely do anymore, except for hunting. All of my boots are old but seem to be holding up well. What I don't want to happen is head off for the field and have this happen. I even have Danners. Gimme a clue what to look for....
