Dr warned me I was pre-diabetic, 5 years ago.

Done keto for 4 months. Cutting sodas, cereals, potatoes, rice, bread, pasta. Put cinnamon and coconut sugar in my coffee, take cinnamon capsule every morning. Have slowly added in SOME potato, rice, pasta, bread, but not every day. Blood levels improved and maintaining. Anything to stay away from Big Pharma is GOOD.

My A1C's never got above 5 but i was pretty darn fat for a long time - fat enough to cause blood pressure issues -
Went on Semaglutide to help with weight loss --- im still on it and working my way down the scale, but am very pleased to say i havent had to take a BP pill in a couple of weeks. - my primary care physician knows about my weight loss efforts , so she trusted me enough to say -- "just check your BP a few times a week - if it gets in the 135/85 range , take one of your pills -- if not , - then don't"

i thought of the phrase - Be hard to kill

In a fictional TEOTWAWKI event, our enemies just need to wait for our meds to run out, then a bunch of us will start dropping off like flies
I say that, but also just freely admitted i am on semaglutide - but i prefer that to BP meds

My blood sugar control sucks badly. It is all over the place even when I eat Keto for weeks on end. They have me on two insulins, Metformin and Ozempic. Still wild swings from dangerous lows to over 300. All in a day with me doing my best to eat right. Well I read a review from an Ozempic user saying taking Cinnamon pills helped. I researched it and found for many it really does help so I have been trying it for a week now. It really is helping. Probably more than the ridiculously priced Ozempic. Not only is my average Glucose staying in the safe range, but the average is coming down. From an average of 179 a week ago to 167 this week. Diet and other meds have not changed.

I am taking 1200 mg Cyelon Cinnamon capsules I get from Walmart. Really it is 600 per capsule but you take two a day. If you are diabetic you might try cinnamon. See if it helps you.

Cinnamon works but it won't overcome eating and exercise habits.

Someone recommended a carnivore diet, gotta second that. It's not as expensive as you think if you research it.

When I was first diagnosed with T2D. my A1C was over 12. Last A1C was 5.0. No longer diabetic. Reversed. Still stage 2 CKD though.

Let's see...buy meat or get my toes/foot amputated down the road, maybe dialysis. Tough choice for me.

Thankfully for me, low to very low carbs & no sugar, no grains or pasta, and intermittent fasting did wonders. I don't even eat vegetables anymore. Mostly red meat, some pork and chicken, bacon, eggs and some dairy. Cheese, butter and also some heavy cream in my coffee. I'm 68 with T2D in my family. I beat my T2D though.

I believe a "balanced diet" is a myth. Especially if the info comes from the American Heart Assoc. or the American Diabetes Assoc. Both are complete BS.

Good luck with the cinnamon.
pretty much what I do

Agree on the carnivore idea

Im on the downhill slide with my semaglutide journey -- the last 25 pounds are stubborn as heck though so ive upped my dose of the stuff to near max levels and have been exercising plenty -- mostly mountain biking and admittedly not enough strength training though .

Despite the help with the drugs, its still been a bear for me -- digestive issues on the higher doses are such that literally anything with obvious added chemicals will pay me back with acid reflux and belching later and bread and vegetables just do not seem to want to process at all

Saving grace has been my venison grinder. Inexpensive chuck steaks and roasts can be had at Sams/Costco etc for $5 a pound- after i pass them through the grinder, its just high quality , easy to digest burger meat -- so in effect, i have been doing carnivore for a few weeks now

Many of us unfold 5-7$ a day or more on coffee/ energy drinks/ tobacco products/ other food substances -- so i am in agreement that carnivore can be done inexpensively

There are two plants/trees called “ cinnamon “ . Only the type labeled “CEYLON” Cinnamon helps diabetes. The other doesn’t work.

Side Question:. Does the carnivore diet affect heart disease / ie raise triglycerides ?
Same Question for the Keto, high fat diet ??

I understand reducing carbs will lower blood glucose-sugar, Makes sense, but what about if one has concurrent cardiac artery blockages and on ( controversial) statins ?

My cholesterol was high and Dr prescribed meds, BEFORE I made changes.

Triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, blood sugar are all normal ranges since.
BP has been high and on meds since '04.
Hasn't been any change.

You’ll take the one with no cure over the one that can, for many, be reversed by changing diet and exercising?
Actually yes 100%. Obviously the "curable" type 2 isn't as easy as it seems for millions of people. Give someone the ability to control themselves with insulin rather than just diet and exercise and it's 1000% easier to keep your A1C where it should be. Insulin pump? Battery operated pancreas? It's even easier, which is what I've been on for the last 12y of the 30y of my type 1 journey. Glucometer constantly monitors blood glucose, glucometer communicates to the insulin pump, pump continuously delivers insulin just like your pancreas. Easy peasy. Still have to eat right, but they can't make it any easier for someone to take care of themselves. I can promise you I'll out live a huge percentage of the "curable" folks.
