Yep.... thosee too.
Or the W. Mc. threads.
I'm pretty sure they are talking about cryogenically treated, and not fired at that temps. Some barrells are, and its benefits are up for discussion.
What else is their to know about them? Ya'll basically just told me to stay away from them, but why? Other than the overpriced AR-15, which they CLAIM can get 1/2 MOA at 1000 yards.
Rijas build good $600 rifles, but their claim to accuracy is bullspit. That lifetime warranty is also bullspit. Parts have a manufacturers warrantee, but given that douchebags willingness to bust out a dremel on the bolt locking lugs to make it fit the chamber... (I swear, I have seen it in person! and the blown up rifle they often display with the 'we even warrantee this' banner over it is what came of it)... Rijas is the type of dealer that deserves a full on westboro-ish flash mob at every gunshow they spit their dribble at.
They asked me if I was a member of any forums so I could get other peoples words for it, and I said OSA. They told me something along the lines of "well don't ask there. OSA members are a bunch of grumpy know it alls. Try some other forums, blah-blah-blah."
This is the only forum I am on so I don't want to join any others. I like you guys here.
I was kind of shocked they called us grumpy know it alls though.
You can buy or build an AR that is more reliable, milspec, and not hatchet jobed. In the unlikely event that something breaks on any gun you buy from a reputable manufacturer, it'll be covered by that manufacturer. You don't need to pay extra for a middle man warranty.
The reasons you shouldn't buy from Rijas abound but here are some that came to me in a matter of seconds:
1. They are liars, if they lie to you on the first encounter how can you trust their warranty? (Would you buy a car from a dealer who lied to you?)
2. They have no clue what they are selling is capable of in terms of accuracy, yet make wild guarantees. Or they do know and guarantee anyway.
3. You can buy a way better gun (Colt, S&W, Sig Sauer) for less money at your local Walmart
4. That gun(Colt, S&W, Sig Sauer) at Walmart still carries a limited lifetime warranty
5. Their prices are too high, on everything, not just AR's.
I think the member who mentioned rhino sex earlier probably said it best though.
How did firing rounds down barrels at -273 C come into this discussion? Does Rijas seriously tell people that the rifles are fired with the barrels at -273 C?
The barrels may be cryotreated but there is no doubt in my mind that no barrel manufacturer in any part of their quality program sends live rounds, or any kind of rounds for that matter through a barrel at Cryotreat temps. To do so would be idiotic at best and suicidal at worst.
That would be darn close to absolute zero (-273.15C). Pretty sure the slightest vibration interacting with the barrel at that point would shatter it. What alloy is the barrel?
