A backyard chicken keeper is losing money. They do it for the enjoyment or egg security. A 50 lb bag of scratch grain is $16.73 add tax $ 18.23.

And FINALLY -- Jeez the price of eggs are getting crazy, huh?? I sold some of the eggs you gave me to a cousin. He REALLY likes them! You think you might be able to give me a couple dozen more every week??

Yes, he SOLD eggs I GAVE him to a relative (because he needed a few dollars to play the lottery with. Btw, he "said" he won $150 on some kind of game he likes to play).

He is absolutely SHOCKED that my chickens don't lay in the winter. **** happens, ya know??
