LOL. When I was at the vo-tech, the video conferencing equipment knew when I was going on vacation or taking a personal day. Every time a piece of expensive hardware burned up, it was when I was out of town.

Took a vacation year before last and our enterprise business objects server popped a processor, VPN to work and fail over the disk storage spaces to our hot spare hardware, then an hour on the phone with the engineer who came on site after initiating the service call. Took a vacation last year and some ******* in 1998 had used a check number that fell in our numbering schema for that fiscal year. Back to the hotel VPN into work and fix that issue so payroll could resume it's run. Took a couple of vacation days to get some work done around the house this spring, the same report server popped a second processor, had to go to work, the IBM engineer replaced the entire board and both processors that time, since it had done it before.

I love IBM gear that's the only server that has had a problem since I have worked with IBM hardware over the past 10 years.

Yeah, Blackberry Exchange Servers have the same sixth sense.

My day ended at 4, at 3:30-3:45, in come the dead Blackberrys.

If you are running Blackberry Enterprise Server 5.0 or later you should have a hot spare for failover! Of course the gay thing is they share the same SQL database, so if your SQL server dies you're still sunk.

Hi,

I appreciate that sixseven, I may take you up on that if I ever get in a jam with it. We did have a tsupport contract and were running RIM's licensed BES until the free express version came out. The switch last June was fairly painless and for the most part all works well.

Thanks!!

Alan
