Prairie Dogs at 1200
I dropped my first ever doe using a 7mm STW 700 Sendero (God I miss that rifle) my dad had set up to shoot out past 1000. 412 yards. Then I went about 25 years of never shooting one past 150 lol

Maybe 25 yards on deer. That was my first white tail. The remainder were less than that. Shots were so close I just stopped taking rifles and started taking 44 mag revolvers. Lost access to that land when our relatives sold it. Haven’t been hunting since.

Now, how about closest?
I've shot several deer that were 15 ft directly below me, roundball went in the top of the head, exited through the bottom. Didn't have to look for them, and didn't waste any meat.
Great question. With a firearm, probably 15-20 yards using a muzzleloader.
