Farthest shot

500 yards on an antelope and a hog but my most memorable was a 81 yard shot on a hog, spine shot and dropped it, with my 4” 45acp Kimber with my wife next to me in the truck.

She said I can’t believe you hit it and I just looked at her, yawned and said did you expect anything less??

Luckiest shot I ever made with a pistol.

I killed a buck at a little over 300 yards, several in the 200 yard range, but most of the deer I’ve killed have been under 100 yards. Most of my current stand set ups are geared to crossbow hunting (30 yard shots), but I’ve got a couple that could offer shots out to 250-300 yards.

590 yards on a cow elk in New Mexico is the longest. 30-06 with Barnes 165 grain TTSX bullet. Never fails to drop them.
Several deer in the 400 yard range. My hunting situation is wide open terrain. Open fields of agriculture or pasture.
You have to shoot them where you see them.

Dang y’all are taking some long shots! I’ve never shot at a deer past 200yds. Coyotes on the other hand… I’ve knocked down a few in the 300-400yd range

I had a lease where I set up on a powering right-of-way.
My stand was on top of sandy hill. Too steep and sandy to set up anywhere else.
It was 475 yards to the creek, at the bottom.
My 7mag was zeroed at 300 yards. Loading a 140gr Partition to max. I took 17 deer over the years. Closest was 315 yards, farthest was 450.

Deleted my post above because it didn't pertain to hunting just long range shooting with a handgun so......

Because of the terrain I always seemed to gain access to which was thick woods with openings here and there I've never had the opportunity for a really long shot.....both with a rifle and a scoped handgun the farthest I've ever taken a deer was right around 115 yds. and most were shot at under 75 yds.
