I've gone to Lake Thunderbird the last couple evenings. Yesterday, I caught around a dozen dink crappie. I went again tonight, fishing off one of the designated fishing docks. Same spot as yesterday, but the crappie were no where to be found. I caught 6-7 sand bass in around 2 hours. Kept 4. Is it typical for crappie to scatter if sand bass are in the area?
Maybe.
I only say maybe because all the times I tied to a bridge pillar in Longtown at night we either caught sand bass all night or crappie.
Never a mix of the 2.
Maybe they just do not get along.
My experience has been similar. Maybe sand bass are democrats and crappie are republicans

Well I had a day. I went out for around 5 hours at T-Bird and caught these guys from the dam. I also caught a saugeye that measured to 17 3/4”. He may have been 18” if I stretched him enough, but I wasn’t taking the chance. Caught a lot of dinks to keep me busy in between haha

Slapped these together this evening, ready to go give them a shot! Any tips would be greatly appreciated, never jug fished before.
Do you have the 6" piece of 3/8" rebar in the center so they will tip up when a fish is on?
I don't, watched a few videos and it was about 50/50 whether people put one in. I probably should have.
