I have an old ice chest that has a hole drilled in the top of it for an aerator hose. Battery powered aerator to get it home, then an aquarium 110v aerator to keep alive overnight.
I’ve discovered two things. One can over-aerate a small space with a large aquarium model. Second, if the ambient air temp is too hot, the aerator will inject hot air into the small volume of water and make it too hot, killing the fish.
I like the ice chest idea. Also, the warmer the water the less oxygen it will hold.

Were they snagging any big ones? Last couple of years I havent caught as ma y big ones up there.
I saw several 30-50 pounders snagged. The guy doing the best was casting from the very end of new dike they built as it's about 15 feet or so above normal flows.
I thought he might be on to something as the treble hooks/weight are moving up in the water column when sweeping the rod, plus the current is redirected there.
I don't snag anymore, so no secrets! LOL!
Edit: also, the flows in the river are high right now allowing the fish to come upstream. The latest ODW report said it was excellent snagging.

After reading this, I think I’ve been fishing for the wrong species or at least missing an opportunity. The Salt Fork is full of carp, and all I’ve been after is channel cats.:anyone:
