Went this morning for a couple of hours from 8-10am. Lost some really big ones. Using dip bait I rarely catch any over 8 pounds. These small sponge hooks make it hard to hook into the bigger fish unless they swallow it. I was so busy baiting she did all the catching. It was her first time catfishing with me and she did really good. Also caught a drum for the first time in about 6 years.

It’s a flood control lake. Seen some pretty good sized gar in there last year.

It was a silicone white skirted 1/8 oz single blade spinnerbait. It retrieves real slow without going deep and some rod tip action to make the skirt flare.
Lots of big bait big fish stories going around, but I like the little bait catch everything method.

took your advise and killed them this morning. Academy only had 1/16 oz or 3/8 oz. I caught a ton of crappie, sand bass, and even a channel cat off of the 1/16 oz. never used a spinner that small before. My new go to!

Congrats! Those little baits will take anything in the lake from tiny to huge. When I'm fishing I want to catch fish. I don't care what the specie is and i don't care how big they are. They can always be released if too small but had the pleasure of the fight.
