Took the wife and kid to do a little bay fishing this morning, was slow and didn't catch much exciting except a few small sharks. (Shirtless fella was our guide)

We were in the bay just North of Navarre Florida.

The chef that won the saltwater fish cooking contest in the Gulf Shores, Orange beach and Destin areas won it with gaff top catfish.
I've never had it myself, but it must be pretty tasty.

I binge watched a lot of fishing videos before we spent the winter in Gulf Shores earlier this year. Most were also throwing them back and called them trash fish. That's when I read what the winning fish was in that contest and was kind of shocked.
I'm sure a lot of it was in the preparation of the dish, but was still surprised that he used that fish.

Haven't tried them yet, they are a really white meat. Our guide said they are like flounder. They are kinda odd, when I was repackaging them so I could get them frozen, there was no fishy smell at all.
