Then why not call them the "Friday night pride and joy"? Moving a ball up and down a pretty lawn doesn't a hero make. But hey, if people want to diminish the word "hero" by applying to people who don't deserve it, that's their right. It's Dennis' right to gripe about that too.

Does anybody besides me get disgusted every time of of the people on KFOR puke a story about the Friday night hero's?

Football players are not hero's.

They are football players.
Im sorry Sir , but I must agree with you.
I like to watch football ...sometimes...not Have to.
But They are very Gifted indeed, almost like ...They should Excell, Some work very hard to just get there.
Oh I dont watch KFOR

I would agree it's a misuse of the word hero, but I also think football is a misuse of schools assets, funds, time, and purpose. But it's a good diversion, bread and circus on the local level.

I'm guessing it's the small town schools with limited budgets making money off football?
I have no problem with football, just the place it's been given in school.
