They are going to have to do something when the renewable energy tax credits don't get extended before the end of this year and the wind turbine industry tanks. They have to find something for those workers to do. Fort Smith, AR already had Mitsubishi bail on a new production facility due to the slow downs and competitiveness on orders for wind turbines. All the wind farm developers are trying their best to get everything built and on-line before the end of the year so they can get the credits before they expire.

LOL! did you note the post count you had on this one?

666, you have the mark of the beast on this one!! :D

I agree with your post. They are building a new wind farm north of Enid in the Hunter area. The towers are about 1 1/2 miles from one of the farms.

Hopefully, the post will help bring an end to the renewable energy tax credits!!! IIRC, there are about 4-5 wind farms coming online before the end of the year. They have to beat that deadline, Dennis!!! Got to get them .gov dollars!!

I don't, and wouldn't have one of the dammed things on my property. I know it pays a bunch of money, but I not only farm the land, I also have spent tons of dollars and tons of hours putting in wildlife conservation sites.

For me, its not about money, but seeing the wildlife flourish, and not have those swinging blades, and the fact I don't have control over my property. If I die a poor man, I'll still be happy that no government entity controls a part of my life. Just to head off any detractors, I don't take any government subsidies for conservation, or wheat production.

Wind farms are detrimental to wildlife. Endangered Prarie Chickens, ducks, etc are victims to the blades, and you won't find a deer in the area. Not my cup of tea.

Most wind farms come on line touting so many megawatts of energy for the consumer, but that figure quickly falls off to mechanical difficulties, no wind, etc.

I don't blame you on any of that either!! I am not sure I would want them anywhere near land I own, unless they allowed me to put some shoot-n-see targets on the blades so I could target practice!!! :hyper:

Most windfarms are expected to put out around 10% of their overall capacity at most. If they put out more than that, you consider yourself lucky. Another negative is you cannot dispatch them like regular generators, they only put out what the wind allows. The only thing you can really do them is limit them by shutting down turbines.
