I just bought a Gen 2 police trade in Glock 17. Cosmetically, it's better than I expected. However, whe I took it to the range today, a significant portion of the ejected brass went right back into my face, usually into my right eye. I wear glasses so this was annoying instead of cause for an emergency room visit, but I need to fix it. Looks like the ejector is bent to the right somewhat. I figure I'll make this an excuse to learn how to take the G17 apart far enough to replace the ejector and inspect the rest of the internals. So, two questions:

1) Does anyone have Glock 17 replacement ejectors in Tulsa or do I get to mail order it?

2) Any other advice?

There's probably a post on the internet somewhere showing comparisons of various Glock ejectors. Some of them are bent to the right (the G-21 the most "crooked" IIRC). So the ejector may be fine. Then again, it may be the wrong ejector for the model.

It could be the recoil spring. It could also be your grip if this is your first Glock. They require locked wrists and a firm platform, otherwise they're prone to doing this.

I had the same problem with a G19. It did not happen with my other Glocks, only this G19. I took it to Olyeller and he fixed it and test fired it. It never did it again, I can't remember what he did to fix it.

I have a couple new ones its called the "trigger housing w/ejector"
They have about a 5 degree right bend to them
More than likely its not your problem.
Heres what the glock armorer manual says:
1. broken or damaged ejector > replace trigger housingw/ejector
2. under-powered ammo > change ammo
3. dirty chamber > clean chamber
4. shooting with an unlocked wrist >most common > lock wrist
5. lack of lubrication > lubricate
6. dirty gun > clean it

If at the same time you experience "fail to feed" or "slide fails to lock open on last round" you are definitely limp wristing it.

check your ammo the minimum is 115 grain bullet at 902 feet per second
try to find ammo that has Nato in the description like

9mm luger (parrabellum)
9X19 NATO
124 gr. fmj

some stuff like blazer aluminum, alot of times just don't have enough OOmmppFF! to get the job done.

thats the troubleshooting section for ejection problems
I need to get more newer manuals.
This one "Glock 17" is 52 pages long and from 1991
They go into quite detail about ammo specs for each caliber
I remember my first Glock. A lot of the cheapo ammo would not work good.
That was 1984 so I guess thats why they include that kind of info.

Here's one for you
Problem >Trigger safety fails to return forward to engaged position.

Cause > Improperly stored in original box with trigger in full forward position
trigger safety fully depressed.

Answer > Replace trigger bar. When stored in original box pistol must be unloaded with trigger in back position

In otherwords you must always dry fire it before putting in original box.

Interesting
In this 1991 manual over half of all troubleshooting problems mention
under-powered ammo as a potential cause.

I was shooting 115 grain 9mm Blazer Brass.
My grip is as taught in the TDSA Beginning Handgun Marksmanship program.
If the G17 doesn't work with this combination then it's for sale.
Many handguns have passed through my hands in the last 30 years, I've only had problems with 3, a S&W Sigma 40VE, a Glock 36 and now this Glock 17.
I went with the Glock so I could eventually get a .22 conversion, now I'm thinking it was a bad idea.
