Anybody got some good ones. I am sick of Pace, Renfro's, Newman's, and all those. They all taste the same. Like coming out of the same spigot. lol . I like Hell on Red ,but my store doesn't carry it anymore.

I don't like the thick chunky kinds. I guess I will go to the Mexican grocery and see what they got.

I would rather make it myself in a blender. Thanks.

From the Coyote Cafe(in Sante Fe New Mexico)cookbook.

I have made this numerous times and like it!!!

***Make it at least 30 minutes or longer before you want to eat it. Let the ingredients mingle in the frig****

2 tablespoons of diced onion(white)

2 cups tomatoes chopped into 1/4 inch cubes

2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro....just the leaves, not stems.

2 teaspoons sugar

1/4 cup Mexican beer....I use Tecate or Modelo Especial. You might try a dark beer......Bohemia/Negra Mdoelo??

2 teaspoon of salt

juice of 1 lime

**2 serrano chiles finely chopped....less heat use one. More heat, use a jalapeno or two. I like the serrano because of its flavor and refined heat.

Put the onion in a strainer, rinse with hot water and drain. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Let it sit in the refirgerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Drink the rest of the beer while waiting!!!

Add just a little more sugar if it tates acidic.

Can of diced tomatoes, can of stewed tomatoes, can of rotel, 1/4 to 1/2 of onion, 1/2 to 1 clove garlic, bit of salt, two jalapenos (with or without seeds), one anaheim pepper, however much cilantro you want.

Mix them in a food processor. Simple, quick, delicious.

And no damn mango.

I'm a salsa nut, so I feel your pain man.

Check out the Iron Head Salsa (made by a guy in Oklahoma). He just makes "Iron Head Stuff" now which is a kit you buy at certain grocery stores that you add fresh tomatoes - its hard to find (usually near the salsa kits or even right by the tomatoes in grocery stores). Its at Homeland and a few other grocery stores - check the website. Its a little vinegary, but its different from the usual and pretty good (the "wild" is very hot).

WalMart actually has a few new brands too - World Table makes some good Salsa Verde and a Roasted salsa that's pretty good too.

I can't remember the brand, but WalMart also has some fresh stuff in their salad section that has to be refrigerated (Fresh Garden Salsa and some Pico De Gaio) - both are awesome too. They're in plastic square tubs.

I was actually taking a cheaper salsa and blending it and adding a few ingredients to pep it up because I was eating so much of it and Pace and Sam's Choice were so cheap.

Look at adding Toma-taos or red or green chillis to it (or even some RoTel if you're lazy like me sometimes :D ) - it makes a huge difference and you can still have a cheap base salsa to start with.

Home made pico de gallo is easy - just onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, Toma-taos, a lime, etc... whatever you really want - just add slowly to taste.

I wish I could remember the name of it but Sams Club sells an amazing salsa. It comes in a plastic jug with a black lid. The back side is indented to make a little carrying area. It is AMAZING. I'm love salsa and this stuff is by far the best I ever had. I haven't bought it in a long time, I think i'm gonna be heading that way this weekend now
