You can thank the EPA. The last lead smelter in the US was shut down a couple years ago because lead prices were down and they couldn’t meat EPA emissions regulations.
As far as I know, all lead is foreign sourced now.

The mines and old buildings are there as museum pieces. Actually spent two months in Colorado just a few miles from Leadville this summer in the RV. Great trout fishing in the Arkansas River.

i just looked up atwoods battery prices and they are still cheap,, and the online review are good,made by East Penn ,one of the largest battery makers.

My understanding is east penn is the last battery manufacturer making batteries in the USA.

They market them under the Deka name.

I have 2 diesels and Costco have the batteries I need for $125 each compared to about $200 anywhere else.
