I got a Noveske stainless barrel for my 300blk...I really just wanted the pinned gas block. Now that I bought a gas block pinning fixture, there is no need for an expensive barrel. The bullets you are shooting with the 300blk aren't going to shoot one hole groups so I would go with the CMMG and save some money.
Hmmmm. Rent that pinning thing out?

You're 1000% right, Mitch. I have a monumental amount of debt, most likely more than probably 97% of people on this forum, excluding business debt (i.e., personal debt only). And we are working to pay it down... perhaps not as fast as CHenry and some other people think we should, but personally, I know it's going to be a many-year-long goal, so I choose to live life, enjoy some things, take care of my kid and not make him feel like he's the poor kid in town who can never have anything nice, nor do anything fun - which is how I felt growing up.

Take care of your responsibilities. Work toward a goal of paying down your debt. But don't forget to do some things for yourself that will help keep you sane and satisfied, so you don't always feel like you're working your ass off to make numbers on a page look better. That's how I feel about it, anyways.

<edit> To stay on topic somewhat, I think you can certainly find some bargain barrels for that .300 that are a fraction of what the Noveske is. I've never bought into the Noveske/Daniel Defense hype. Yes, they are good quality, but there are plenty of other good quality brands and parts. Most of my rifles are not anywhere in that pricerange, but I'll put money down they shoot pretty damn comparably and are plenty durable, to boot.

Check out SOTA Arms for .300 barrels, they're much cheaper and seem to be decent quality.
What do you know of these SOTA barrels?

I took a look and they have an 8" 1:8 300BLK barrel for 116$ that I am now very interested in. I may be looking at a new longterm project.....a 300 pistol might be nice.

I haven't bought one yet... but I am likely planning to, unless I find something else that seems to beat it in some way. Like I said, I'm not really into high-priced stuff just for the name brand, and I don't mind experimenting with newer stuff to give a review of it.

Here's one review. If you search ARFCom you'll find alot of both ways. I find those guys to be pretty snobbish alot of times... if it's not Noveske, DD, LMT or something, it's crap, IOW. Spend some time, do some research, see if it's worth it to you to check them out. Personally, I think I will... unless something major changes my mind first.

I was the same with my 6.8 - I looked at ARP, White Oak, Wilson, etc....did all the research. In the end I went with a Stag barrel built on Anderson receivers and have zero remorse.

I've got a Sig pistol brace, Anderson lower, and couple of LPKs in the safe waiting for something to be done with them. A 300BLK pistol for Spring 2015 may now be on the table.

@Mitch....keep posting progress on your build. I'd like to hear what you come up with and maybe steal a couple ideas.

Have you had a chance to use the Sig pistol brace? If so how do how do you like it? Is it comfortable using it in a "not designed method"? My wife has been thinking about getting on.

I understand not wanting to shell out the extra cash for Noveske or other higher $ money barrels, personally I wouldn't consider Daniel Defense in 300AAC. If it were me I would immediatly cross off any barrel that is not a 1:7 twist, it is not a huge difference but extra stabilization is a plus in my book. Others probably will not share my view on this but I want to make damn sure I am not going go have baffle strikes.

Aim surplus has BCGs on sale shipped for $80 or $100 for NIB. If you want I will keep posting deals I see for things you may need?
