Is there a way to mitigate the snow entering the vent or will the vent need replaced with a different type?

nothing like the roofing crew knocking a hole in the decking with a roofing hatchet instead of cutting it in! :nono2:
With blowing snow and pretty much any roof vent you will get some snow in the attic . I put a couple large catch pans in the attic under the vents. you can get them at HD in the appliance section , They are designed to catch a washer leak. I plugged the drain and just let the snow /water evaporate . The times I have had snow intrusion it has only been a couple of hands full.

A narrow shrink wrap plastic or kitchen plastic wrap followed by a piece of tape. Our turbines were covered with hd yard bags and taped prior to winter.

Not telling you what to do with your house but covering the vents is not the answer. You need venting year round.

If you look at the roof pitch in the OP 's question I am pretty sure his roof is a 12/12 , climbing that to temporarily cover the vents is not an option for most.
Truth! I’ve been on the roof before. Ive used and extremely long extension ladder and lay it on the pitch to a support on the ground, or a piece of sofa seat foam for traction, to use to climb on.

I’ve contacted the roofer and will see what they offer.

I think a temp or maybe permanent fix would be the catch pan and fabbing an insert that fits inside the existing round collar that I can slide up to keep the wind from blowing in and It would still ventilate.

The issue I see is the collar is not tall enough. The inside collar is even with the top of the external venting.if snow or rain is blowing sideways it doesn’t take much to go over the collar. If I can raise the collar, that should help some.
