There is a state statute the specifically allows wardens to operate vehicles without any lights. They are the only LEO's allowed to. Any other cop would be in trouble for it. Most of the ones I know have a ir light on the front and use old nv googles, but the statute doesn't require it. I've never seen one driving over about 10mph while doing this.

Without know any of the details of this accident it's hard to judge fault. You would need to know speeds, conditions, equipment used ect. On the basis of the article alone the warden was within statute, the cyclist was not.

It looks like the code of C.Y.A. is in full force. I call it as I see it! 99% of the time I am on the other side of the fence but not this one. I also know his brother FOP officers will rush to his side to defend him no matter what! Wrong is Wrong!

indangering the public while driving without his headlight on. If he recieved a call and had reason to approach with out the lights on I could understand but the report never stated that. So your telling me that Law enforcement can break the law by driving without headlights on a moving car just because that want to?

IT'S NOT BREAKING THE LAW!!!!! They are allowed to!!!

Just an FYI--- OHP and the wardens are not FOP union members

Title 29 chapter 1 article 3. 201.c

Is the relevant statute if ya wanna read it. I can't link from my phone but I could google...

Without knowing more this is all I can base my statement on. The warden was within statute. There may be more to the story, but until someone brings that out the facts are pretty simple.

I do. Show me any law that says that you can break the law to catch criminals in action?

For the incompetent.....

Oklahoma Statute 29: 3-201

C. 1. Pursuant to the provisions of this subsection, a game warden may operate a vehicle owned or leased by the Department upon a roadway during the hours of darkness without lighted headlamps, clearance lamps, or other illuminating devices. As used in this paragraph, "roadway" shall include any street or highway in this state except an interstate highway, a limited access highway, a state trunk highway, or any street or highway within the limits of an incorporated area.

Take a human life or even endanger human lives in the name of saving an animals life?
WTF has this world come to?

Besides everything else that is wrong with your "argument", I wanted to point out that:

Shooting a highpowered rifle from a road IN THE DARK endangers more than just an "animals" life. I really doubt the folks doing this "know their backstop and beyond".

So its really more about public safety, than wildlife management.
