In the interest of fairness, I have installed a bunch of them. Probably in the hundreds. Also it would take me at least 30 minutes just to get up and down.

I was fixing to say 30 min to get down under the sink 30 min to do the job and another 30 min to get back up from under the sink sounds about right for the hour and half.

Sometimes corrosion around the sink outlet causes issues.

I hate those things in a rental house. People think garbage goes into them or any food you do not wish to eat like an entire pot of stew!

Plumbers with time on their hands must have invented the stupid garbage disposal.

If you can pick it up with your hands or fingers put it in the trash can.

Better you than me my friend, but either way it would have taken the same amount of time.
The only difference between you and the plumber is you didnt see him cussing and fussing chasing tools and parts. All we see is the install and think geez thats easy lol.

I use a garage floor jack to hold up the old one as I disconnect it. Also use the floor jack to hold up the new one while I reinstall. Works great!

If you should ever need to lay on your back to get under a sink, use an ironing board angled in the cabinet to lay on --- works wonders!

I've removed them from all my rentals.
Renters constantly stopping them up or the drain lines.
I've got better things to do than messing with those POS.

Not that I don't know how or can't do it, I just HATE it. But, I am also cheap and hate paying for what can do myself.

Agree!! I replaced 1 every 6 months, when I got married, 28 years ago. Now about every 7-9 years - I FINALLY convinced my wife it doesn’t eat EVERYTHING = that’s what a trash can/bag is for!
