It appears that they were aware of the safety issue since he was suspended for turning them in. Sounds like someone from the comany knows someone at DOT.

if he go's for another driving job they would just blacklist him .. I've been there did that from a Tulsa trucking company. then one of their drivers lost his life because of micky mouse way's. it was sad it

I would also file a complaint with the DOT supervisor (i.e. the supervisor *ABOVE* your POC contact). It's apparent that someone at DOT doesn't know what "confidential" means.
I'm not saying your 'contact' was the rat, but it's very near the leak source. (coworker, secretary, etc....)

If you can't trust the regulating agencies to protect their sources (you), then nobody will report when it's necessary.

Two thoughts......Why a lawyer? Kind of silly and possibly expensive.
If it is that bad of a company why stay there? There are way too many driving jobs to put up with BS.
