I have had two or three really good trades recently. I just ignore the + retail stuff. I'm picking up a couple of things tomorrow that were less than 1/2 new.

Sometimes when I see a crazy price on a new, or "low round count" item for say $180, I like to pm a link to the OP with the same thing from a website for $99 w/free shipping. Is that jerky?

The good deals are still here. The're just here whenever I'm broke.

I don't think it is jerky, I have guns that I have for several years and may have paid to much when I bought them, I would apprecate someone telling me I was to high. You can usually tell the guns that are priced right, they go FAST.

Yep - and then there are the ones with several "bumps". Any more than a couple and that means the price is too high.

I've gotten some good deals on the classifieds here, I've also sold some things too cheap and also gotten more that I thought I would a couple of times.

It all just depends on who is looking, how desireable the item is you're selling and how you have it priced.

I noticed a knife the other day that was being priced $200 more than you can currently buy it retail... just made me wonder WTF? There was also a "RARE" sporterized military rifle that the last one, quote "sold for $5000" on Gunbroker, but they only wanted around $400 firm lol. Do some people price things high HOPING that they'll just get somebody to sucker into it?

Not always. Sometimes you post an item in the classifieds and come back the next morning to find yourself on page 4 or 5.

Or the item is esoteric enough that it might be a while before the "right" buyer comes along. For example, a Swedish M94 without the bayonet lug modification - how many people here would be interested in buying one, let alone know or care what that is?

Exactly. I've sold several black powder cowboy guns on here, and there are not that many everyday members that shoot it. Eventually, a fellow BP cowboy shooter shows up. All twelve of us.

I could go down the list of really fair, if not better than fair deals on here. Not all. One guy has a black rifle at the new price. So nobody buys that one. His problem, not ours. Pinkhamr's stuff is always cheap. Peanut too. Done some great swapping with both them to boot. I can tell you nothing but good things on here from my receiving end. Hell, a brand new guy named Koshinn just gave me something.

I think the OP just found something he wanted that the guy wouldn't budge on.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get some cash out of the bank to make a smokin' deal purchase this afternoon.

I actually kinda like selling guns on armslist, I never put a price on an item, I just put make offer. I have sold 2 gun to different people for much more than it costs new. I sold a Ruger P95 in 9mm to a guy that offered me $425, new that gun costs $299 at any gun store. I also sold a Walther PPS in .40S&W to a guy that offered $650, he thought he was getting a hell of a deal cause his buddy paid almost $900 at gunworld. I dont know what the Walther cost new since I bought it used

Just like the gun shows, if ya don't wanna pay the entry fee or they don't give a discount for whatever catagory you fall under then don't go. If ya don't like the prices in the classifieds don't waste time wishing the prices were what you wanted to pay.

I recently made a purchase on armslist from a member of this forum. The item wasn't even listed on the osa classifieds, the man didn't say why he didn't advertise on here.

I have both sold and made purchases on this site and armslist and I find it to be relatively the same. It does make one feel better buying from an established member of this site rather than do a deal with a total stranger on armslist. Six one way and half a dozen the other. I'm not on this site to buy and sell, just here to make everyone angry.

Maybe there's a lack of community on the classified section? I've only been around about six months so I don't know what it used to be like. But I think there are a lot of people who post on the classified section who never become part of the 'family' of OSA. It's a lot easier to overcharge someone if you don't have any connection with them. There's the 20 post/30 day rule, but that really doesn't promote any kind of connection to the social part of OSA. I see names in the classified section that I never see in the discussion areas. I don't think there's really anything to complain about. We're all free to buy or not buy. I'm just offering a possible explanation for the change.
