Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are not the "Majority".

There are a lot of good jobs that citizens refuse to take. And with the exceptions that do take them, those employees tend to have a rather poor work ethic. It's part of the "I deserve to be paid as long as I'm on the clock no matter how productive I am, and my employer is obligated to provide a job to me" mentality we get drilled into our heads growing up.

You will see that MAJORITY this November... As for the "jobs that citizens ruse to take " BS... Thats just that... BS

India has the world's fastest growing middle class, and they have over 1,000,000,000 people living there. It's going to be pretty simple to replace about 50 million consumers in just a few years.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that whole "global" thing just yet. The idea of serving those 50 million consumers is tied directly to how the world economy pans out. And it ain't lookin' good. China and India are on the same head-on collision course with that locomotive that we are. We'll have to see how things shake out in those "few years".

Considering he did post a link to "This Land is Your Land", I would guess that, deep down, he does support such a notion (coming over to your house and moving in without an invitation).

True.

But it's more like Jose moved into a house in our neighborhood, and pays rent, but doesn't pay the HOA dues.

If you make 52,000 per year with a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) married filing jointly, even with no credits for child care or education expenses (so just the $1000 per kid child credits), and taking the standard deduction (so no itemization of mortgage income, health care expenses, charitable donations, etc), you don't pay 30% in taxes. More like $800 in Federal Income and $1400 in State over the entire year. That $2200 is about 4% of his 52,000 in income. Social Security and Medicare would total around 3,200 more.

Joe pays about 10% in taxes. Not 30.

Dont know where you get your math, but when I was making 51K per yr (married/joint no dep) I was paying about 18k in taxes, getting back about 3k and that was before sales, property, gas tax etc. Once you go over the 50K mark your tax rate goes from 33 -36% to 46%. Granted that was about 1999 since I was making that kind of money but still.

You clearly don't have any employees of your own. I've owned my own business for close to 10 years and have averaged over 100 employees at a time during that period. The American work ethic is crap. I can't even begin to count the number of able bodied employees who don't show up to work and come in the next day wanting a letter for DHS stating that they no longer work there so they can start receiving benefits. It literally happens every single week.

I don't knowingly hire illegals and less than 10% of my work force is hispanic. I've never once paid anyone under the table. I do all the required new hire reporting and immediately terminate anyone who's social comes back as invalid. I say all that to say this, in 10 years of business I have never had a single employee whose native language is Spanish request any documentation for DHS benefits or file for unemployment. They generally have a much stronger work ethic than those born here as well. Although my workforce may only be 10% hispanic, if I were to rate my employees, hispanics would make up half of the top 10%. I have several employees who work 75+ hrs every week between two different jobs and never complain or slack off. I have nothing but respect for them.

My opinions are grounded in real life experience, not internet chain letters or right wing hyperbole. I am as conservative as most Oklahomans. I am disgusted on a daily basis with elements of our society. I have a strong background in business, economics and finance. I have a good basic understanding of how our economy works. I'm telling you right now, you are missing the real issue. Illegal immigration is an issue and it needs to be addressed. However, it is not bringing our economy down or impacting your way of life. If our economy crashes, and it very well may, a citizenry who is fiscally irresponsible and government spending and entitlements will be to blame, not illegal immigrants.

A 2011 1040. Start with the given income, then fill in the dependents, income adjustments, and standard deduction and 2 child tax credits. Then look at the tax table.

It's not difficult, just a bit tedious.

Not to sound like an ass, but a return from 12 years ago with an entirely different tax scenario (2 less children) is not relevant to the case study presented here. I think 1999's tax table was still set up to screw married couples filing jointly, no?
