Yes... I have come to the conclusion that I NEED a deer rifle with this type of stock too. My plastic fantastic Savage shoots great and all, but it has no character. If I can't find a deal on a well-done sporterized Mauser or something, I may just have to break down and buy a CZ-550 FS in .308:

I've been looking at this in 7.62x39 as a poor man's poor substitute that may also be a little cheaper to feed, though it'd be more of a brush rifle that wouldn't really bug me too much if it got a little beat up.

Now, of course, if Ruger came out with a RAR/GSR hybrid chambered in 7.62x39 with an 18 or 20" barrel, at least a 10 round magazine option, RAR trigger and push feed action (cost cutting measure), with GSR iron sights and scope rail options in a rifle that MSRPs for $500-$600 or less in a synthetic RAR(rimfire) modular international(yeah, I went there) stock, then all bets are off.
