It took some time to put everything together, but here is everything I know about the rally as of 10PM Jan 17.
The permit is in place. The rally will be at Noon, Saturday January 19th on the South plaza of the Oklahoma State Capitol.
Reserved parking will not be in effect, but you still have to honor the handicapped parking.
Food will not be allowed on the plaza. Nothing that could damage the granite will be permitted.
We aren't clear on whether the Capitol will even be open for those who need to visit the restroom. You would have to disarm anyway before entering. We are recommending that people try to plan ahead. OnCue at NW23rd and Santa Fe has very nice restrooms, and is only a few blocks to the west of the Capitol.
Handheld signs are great, make sure the message is something we want put in the media. Keep it classy.
Open carry or concealed carry is fine for those who are licensed to do so. Long gun carry is prohibited. You cannot enter any building while armed.
Speakers for the Oklahoma event include State Senator Nathan Dahm, State Representative John Enns, State Representative Paul Wesselhoft, and 25 year Law Enforcement professional Don Hudgins. We are still working on others and will update as speakers are confirmed.
This event is taking place in 47 states. The notional organizer was unable to find a local organizer in a few states.
Bring your families. Dress to impress. The media will definitely be there.
All indications say that we will have more than 1000 people attending this rally.
We have the full support of security as well as the department in charge of maintaining the facilities. Be sure we leave the area in better shape than we found it. Doing the right thing pays big, especially when we are in the public eye.
One more thing... OKOCA is paying for the rental of the stage (required under the permit terms) from organizational funds. If anyone would like to help reimburse some of the cost, please let me know. The cost is $620 and we have about $200 covered so far.
I'm not reading the threads as much as usual, but if you have any questions or ideas, PM me so I'll get an email and see it right away.
