I really don't understand not using PayPal. It has saved my butt a few time with refunded money on a transaction I made that turned out to be fraud. It is every bit as secure as your CC.
Been using it for 15 years with 0 issues

I know what you mean, But also considering the stance PayPal has taken on some "transaction types", I can understand why there are those, especially here, that wouldn't want to be involved with them in any way.

Once funds are collected, ill need someone else to do the buying as I don't have a way to haul it.
Only question is, if funds exceed purchase price by a bit, what to do with them?

Here’s my thought, there needs to be a set amount of time to raise the funds. Then, the best possible mower that fits Rick can be found. I see no reason to rush out there and buy him a problem
