I've had a 78 CJ and a 91 YJ. The YJ was the best for getting in and out of the back area. The JK is the hardest.

Do the seats not go way up like the CJ/YJ? Is that what it is?

The back of the seat comes forward and the seat slides forward but, not far enough. Then you have to deal with the seat belt attached to the seat bottom. It's a joke. But I love it anyways.
I removed the backseat a long time ago and use the back for cargo.

2005 Wrangler. I drive it from Stillwater to Tulsa and back five days a week. In retrospect cruise control might have been a good option.
