Hey, it's only a 4 year old thread, so I'll add...
My build of an old 870 riot gun from Summit. Waited forever for my tax stamp then cut the barrel to match the Wilson +1 mag extension with a pipe cutter. Brazed a front sight mounting block on the barrel, then used epoxy and a 1/16" roll pin to secure the actual sight. Drill & tap for the rear. Sandblasted and coated in "Parkerized Gray" from Brownells. Cut an inch off the stock and sanded the sides of the recoil pad down using the side of my abrasive wheel chopsaw. Stripped, stained and finished the furniture with lindseed oil. Ran a 100 count box of #8 bird shot and 2 boxes of OO buck thru it to test functioning, all without a hitch. Patterns are pretty open beyond 10 yd. Fed ammo with flight control wads put everything into one big hole at 15yd. It's a HD gun, so that's fine with me.
All is well in my little corner of NFA land.

Yea, I have only shot 2-3/4" 00 Buck through it so far and after about 9 rounds your hand is hurting.
