You insist that he called "it" a free market... post what he said.
It sounds like you're just attacking straw men.

He called it free market and free trade, the point is that he believed that if a foreign country "dumps" on us by subsidizing or other means, it was good for us. He never realized that "us" meant a few corporations temporarily increasing their profits, instead of "US" meaning the nation.
Don't get hung up on whether he said a specific word or not, that approach is not worthy of the conversation (he did support free market and free trade). What is important is that he advocated a government free approach where the corporations can do whatever the heck they want.
He was wrong, China will be the #2 economy in another couple of years and we are sliding. It does not work.
Domestic industry has to be protected from foreign products. The Chinese do it, the Japanese do it, the Indians do it and it works.

It is insanity to keep doing the same thing over and over expecting change.

It? What "it" was he talking about? Post what he said, stop attacking straw men.
It sounds like you've never read or listened to the man and are simply attacking what you have heard from someone else about him.

You are good, you remind me of Clinton and what the meaning of "is" is.
:pms2:

You're arguing against a man you don't know anything about and you haven't bothered to read or listen to anything he said. You don't even know what positions of his you disagree with.

Take this:
You say you support "made in the USA" products, but you are wrong. China's manufacturing base is rising, and the USA's is declining.

Maybe when you understand why that criticism is errant, you will understand why your own vocalized criticism of Friedman is (thus far) without any merit or weight whatsoever.

Was Friedman wrong when he advocated lower taxes?
Was Friedman wrong when he railed on government spending?
Was he wrong when he said "I think the government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem and very often makes the problem worse"?
Was he wrong when he asserted that "With some notable exceptions, businessmen favor free enterprise in general but are opposed to it when it comes to themselves"?

Maybe you could address what he actually said instead of what you were told that he believed in.
So far you've only said "Oh it doesn't matter what he really said... just assume that he's wrong"

I thought that we were talking about free market/free trade. The Utube link I provided has Milton on record supporting that.
"You say you support "made in the USA" products, but you are wrong. China's manufacturing base is rising, and the USA's is declining."
I support made in the USA products for that exact reason, the Chinese manufacturing base and economy are rising, ours is declining and our people have to flip burgers for a living. Where am I wrong?

You can't argue with academic economists or statisticians who worship others in the ivory towers of academia.
They can't run a business but they can tell everybody else how an industry or national economy should be run.

Hope it works, I don't like the LED white light and I don't want Hg in my house.
I'm curious to see how they pack the electronics and magnets in such a small and profitable package.
There shouldn't be any magnets. Picture tubes have magnets to help steer the single electron beam.
Think about it; A picture tube only illuminates one small pixel at a time.
This bulb just floods the interior of the bulb with random electron sprays and illuminates the whole bulb at the same time.

There would be some electronics to generate the voltage to provide all those electrons tho.

It's a brilliant idea to adapt this decades old technology to new purpose.

You are correct, the bell shaped bulb made me think that they need to bend a beam. I was stuck on the crt design.
I would love to see them hit the market. As soon as the Chinese decide to produce them. We've lost the ability here thanks to the so called free market/free trade.
