Ever since my "epiphany," I have been thinking about starting a PAC (Political Action Committee) that is designed to find and support politicians who share our commitment to preserving our 2nd Amendment rights and who support our 4th and 7th Amendment rights as well. Politicians who are not "bought and paid for" by either the State Chamber of Commerce or an equally odious liberal group.

What do you all think?

first thing to do is research and make a list of every politician in oklahoma that has a voice in gun control and is anti-gun. i suspect that list is going to be a short one. post their names on here and everyone in their district can start wearin' his/her ass out with emails, letters and phone calls.

that is how i would start.....then take the same game plan nationally on other gun forums. that would be a grass roots organization that is not backed by a lobbying group. don't give the politicians a dime....just promise ejection if they don't vote the "right way".

I will help you Mr Books. I have a suggestion though. It may be wise to start looking at some local candidates for positions in some of the lesser races. City, county, school etc. I say this because #1 these races are cheaper to win and #2 if we found several good candidates in the "minor leagues" we could always encourage them to be ambitious and set their sites on some state and then national positions. I have a friend here in Edmond that I've been trying to talk into running for an office. I could use some help persuading him. I'm all for it, let me know how I can help.

My advice is to take a look at how Obama won. Say what you will, but instead of PACs, you need a grass roots movement. One vote at a time works but takes dedication and patience.

Learn from your new adversary, study him. Remember too, that when asking for political advice on this forum that 80% of this forum misjudged or underestimated Obama and his team. Do not make that mistake.

Bazinga?

Here's a link for an interesting group that appears to be a grassroots type that has done something.

GREAT idea, JB. As far as I understand it, setting up a PAC can be tough. Considering the objective and the environment in which you'll be operating, keeping it going will be tougher. Of course, anything an old political junkie can do to help, just let me know.

That is funny right there!!!! Obama's super pacs and rich donors raised almost as much as did Romney's. Add in the illegal donations from overseas and Obama raised plenty. When it comes to learning from your adversary I guess you mean to lie and cheat. :D

What I'd like to see is us operate as a COMMUNITY to protect ourselves. Obviously, not ALL of us are going to agree on ALL issues, but I think we ALL agree on a few issues. It is that commonality of purpose which gives us strength. At the breakfast this morning it was just absolutely awesome to see so many different people united by a common interest. I submit that all of us, no matter our political stripe or religious (or lack of religious) creed can agree on the following:

1). We love our country.
2). We believe in our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
3). We want a better life for ourselves and our loved ones.

I'm certainly not so narcissistic or grandiose to think I have all the answers (well maybe I am j/k!), but I think if we all work together, we just might be able to make a positive difference in our state.

I believe this because I have seen the difference WE have made in each other's lives, big differences and small ones. I believe this, because I think, with a few exceptions, that most members here are good, decent people who want to make a difference. Two recent examples; look at what Powerman620 did with his prize money. Right now, with runs on ammo and gun parts, he didn't think of himself, instead he took his son and helped needy people. And on a personal note, BadgeBunny was so kind to lend me an ear when I was absolutely despondent over the loss of my friend, Redmax51. I know she has done the same for many members here for various issues.

This sense of community can be something to sustain us and improve the quality of our lives. We just have to work and maintain it. I am proud to be here and thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a great group of people.

Good topic JB. I don't know alot about pacs, but a grassroots effort to organize efforts and voices of like minded people would be a very good thing. It amazes me that so many people come the forum to ***** about this or that to other members, when they should email their congressman and ***** to him first. Sharing ideas is the first step.
