As promised, I have written a review of this rifle for Project Appleseed... it's just a little late. I wasn't able to complete the review for the pre-holiday edition of the Appleseed newsletter due to a defective rifle. Ruger was very prompt in getting me a replacement though. The details are in the article. Anyway, nice little rifle! I think it's a keeper.

Great read there!

I did notice this quote "part). All 2014 production 10/22s have special 50th Anniversary markings on the bolt, but the Design Contest rifle also has a special receiver engraving that is unique to it." I just bought 2 10/22s that are not contest rifles, but are 50th that have the engravings.

Great write-up henschman. I pick up one of these around Christmas and look forward to shooting it. Any ideas on when I might be able to take it to an Appleseed event in the Tulsa area?

It's not on the schedule yet, but we will be having an Appleseed at USSA in Tulsa on April 18-19. It will be up for registration soon, and I will post about it in the training section on here. We will also be adding Norman, Stillwater, Chickasha, and hopefully Ponca City dates as well.
