What's funny is how democrats keeps providing the republicans help as to how to gain the support of different groups. Want the latino vote, implement immigration reform. Want the female vote, change your stance on contraception and abortion. Want the black vote, be more inclusive. The fact remains that unless the republicans do exactly the same thing as the democrats are doing, which is give out free stuff paid for by those who work, they won't win over those groups. The republicans are puppets in the hands of the democrats. Until such a time as the republicans grow a set of balls and simply defend the Constitution, they'll continue to lose as the democrat machine keeps handing out freebies to an ever growing dependent constituency. Funny, or at least until everything implodes when the laws of economics kick in and the US becomes Greece.

how bout they quit paying off any group and just govern. The speaker has been out manuvered and obviously doesnt have the political skills one needs to be speaker. Tip O'neil could hang, Gingrich was competent. The GOP lacks leadership.

I agree in principal...that no tax increase should be implemented without a corresponding reduction in spending....and they MUST BEGIN on the same day....I do not believe that the defense budget should be off limits....that position is held because of all the mega rich folks that make their money from weapons developement....we dont need all of that if we just take care of the USA and quit policing the entire planet...bring the troops home from the middle east and station them along our southern border....all the payroll...construction expenses...etc will be part of our economy instead of those middle east economies...a huge burst in job growth...sustainable jobs...sending the illegals home and keeping them there is worth 15 M jobs all by itself...let the migrant workers have a harvest visa each year...no felonies and you can renew it each January...what is it about the word "illegal" that is so hard to understand...

An open letter to the GOP leadership.

Since the elections are over and the Democrats are still in power we know they will be pushing for an increase in the debt ceiling and tax increases. It is time for the GOP to take the high ground and show the Democrats for what they are, the same old tax and spend liberals they have always been.

The GOP leadership in Congress should start hitting the air waves loud and often with a simple message that with give them the moral and political advantage.

No debt ceiling increase without a real budget passed by both houses and no tax increase, cuts to military spending or a cut to anyone's benefits without certain conditions.

1) First all the wasteful spending in the latest CBO report must be eliminated and all pork spending must be eliminated. This will decrease the amount taken from the people of this countries pocket.

2) Tax increases can only go into effect the same day as all other spending cuts not mentioned above. No tax now, never get to the spending cuts like all the times before.

3) Spending cuts must come from non-essential programs first. The EPA would be a good place to start.

First ya have to have a Leader, Boehner(sp) aint gonna cut it.
Second, the GOP controls only Congress and can only negotiate from a weak position.
Last, what is the GOP willing to concede to reach these goals?

See thats the process of negotiation, you have to give up something to get something.

If it's not about free stuff then why is bait such as free phones, free birth control, free abortions, free foodstamps, etc. dangled in front of the democrat base? If it looks like vote buying, must be vote buying. Of course this begs the question as to where this largesse is enumerated within the text of the Constitution? It's ironic that the democrat party puts out advice to the republicans on how to garner the vote of these groups and do exactly the same thing that the democrats are already doing. Seems like the democrats are out manuevering the republicans who in their ignorance take the advice to heart. In the political scheme of things, why take the advice of the enemy?

Appeal to minorities by allowing illegal immigrants to bypass the current legal entry into the USA and saying it's ok for them to do so while also saying those who are in line, just wait your turn? What minorities are you speaking about? If you look at the census and you will find white males are becoming a minority...

For women, same thing? I hate to say it, but show me a group that makes rational decisions... They swing their vote based on the way a person looks, the fashion they wear and TV shows they watch. Look at Clinton doing MTV, and that horrible show "The View" which Obama visits on a monthly basis. Is the only women issues Birth Control and Abortion? I'm sorry, but I don't want to pay for a woman to have care free sex or to pay for them to kill their baby when they were too drunk or stupid to keep keep their legs closed. Should we also pay to have men clipped so they can't get women pregnant? Is that an issue for women? I know that is insensitive but those were the only two issues I heard during the election.

The issues for minorities and for women should be the same for all people in the county. Is our country safe and protected for foreign and domestic threats? Do we have a process for advancement and self reliance? Do we have the ability to live within our means? Does the government know their place in our life? Can we still achieve the "American Dream"?

If you listen to this president, the American dream is something you should be ashamed of and the government will ensure they penalize you for hard work so they can help out those who either didn't have the aptitude make it on their own or didn't take a risk. Also you don't have have to be responsible for your actions, weather you get your self in debt because you have no self control or if you get knocked up by a hot guy who bought you Vodka shots all night long.

What are the issues?

I know female voters who feel so degraded by the campaign that Obama 2012 ran and feel it sets them back 20 years. Hell the president didn't even pay women equal to the men who worked for him...

Freeranger, I think you pretty well pegged it. IMO this was the last chance we had, and we blew it. As I see it, the two biggest threats our country faced, and the ones that brought it down,(besides what you said) were government run education, and the complacent press, otherwise known as the indoctination and propaganda arms of the liberal democratic party. Four years from now, and two or three Obama supreme court appointees, and I doubt that our once great nation will be recognizable. So really IMO what the republican party needs to do is a moot question. Actually, I reckon the democrats likes to keep the republicans, around so they can blame their obstructionism, for their own failed policies, so they can then double down. I certainly hope I have been civil.

You get them to vote for you. The first rule once you get in power is to stay in power. You need people to like you for some emotional reason, even if its for something as inconsequential in your and my daily life as abortions. It means the world to someone who feels its their right.

Tell ya what, since you asked several questions, interspersed with opinion ill cut ya a break and give ya a Philosophy of Politics class for free, but ya must read John Locke, Rawls and Bentham before we start. Then read "the Leviathan" by Hobbes. By then ya ought to have a better grasp of the Constitution, Rights, Social justice and what happens when a Government grows as large as ours.
