I have a Remington 788 chambered for .22-250 that shoots as well as any rifle I've ever seen in that chambering, and better than most of them.
Quite a few years ago there was a 788 in .222 Remington in the classifieds here for a great price. But at the time I was a little poor and couldn't hop on it. If there is a gun out there I regretted missing out on more than any other it's that one.
Once during an ammo shortage I accidentally bought a few boxes of .222 from a store like an idiot thinking it was .223…. Oops lol. Took me awhile to get rid of them. Learned a lesson about thoroughly reading ammo boxes
