Obama has already made members of his party made at him for not pushing gun control legislation and lost control on that point. Obama is fearing a repeat of the midterms in the 2012 elections. Chris Cox's article is pretty good on explaining this.

Obama has already bit off more than he can chew but don't be too confident just because he isn't talking about it in public, him and Hillary are doing everything in the background to thwart the exercise of the 2nd amendment. It was just a few months ago that Hillary had the government to take a bunch of guns being imported from Asia, antique Garands if I recall, to be destroyed before they could reach US distributors. Obama is not trying to win every battle at the legislative front where the media focuses, he is fighting on the judicial and bureaucratic fronts sidestepping the Constitution and the traditional legal processes.

those garands couldnt be imported because we probably gave them to south korea,they cant turn around and sell to us what we gave them.
