I had a similar occurrence with my compound in 2014. One arrow he went down like yours, second arrow as he was trying to get up. He still got up and crashed into a giant dead tree top. I got down and put another one thru him. I turned to go put my things away and let him expire. Went to the landowners house for an hour, we came back and he was gone. Left blood in the snow like I've never seen, temps were in the low 20*s. We trailed him almost half a mile in a large circle and finally came to an deer mega crossing and had no idea which way he went. Picked up there the next day, found one spot of blood and followed it across the road only to lose it again. Found him the next spring looking for sheds. One arrow still with the skeleton.

I’ve spent 11 hours so far looking and don’t feel like I’m any closer to finding him. I was talking to Deerslayer on the phone at around 5:30 and found two more spots of blood that I have walked over a dozen times. As much as I wanted to hunt in the snow, it has really screwed up this recovery. The deer bled good, but the snowfall this morning covered it all up. I’m confident he’s dead, but it’s a crap shoot whether I find him in my jungle.
This is what I’m walking through...
