I can be there around noon tomorrow if you need another set of eyes.
Let’s talk in the morning. I hate for you to drive all this way with the roads like they are. I greatly appreciate the offer.

Hunt enough and shoot enough and it's bound to happen. One would think that the snow would make it easy, but the only two deer I've ever lost were with a bow and there was snow on the ground.
You’re absolutely right. I’ve been bow hunting since the late 80’s and crossbow hunting since 2010, and I’ve killed A BUNCH of deer and pigs. I lost one deer with a compound about 1988, but this is the first with a crossbow. I believe I would’ve found the buck relatively easy if it hadn’t started snowing.:anyone:

I’ve spent 11 hours so far looking and don’t feel like I’m any closer to finding him. I was talking to Deerslayer on the phone at around 5:30 and found two more spots of blood that I have walked over a dozen times. As much as I wanted to hunt in the snow, it has really screwed up this recovery. The deer bled good, but the snowfall this morning covered it all up. I’m confident he’s dead, but it’s a crap shoot whether I find him in my jungle.
This is what I’m walking through...

Anyone brave the elements this morning? I got up and it was 30 and raining hard so I went back to bed. I need to put out a blind for crappy days as I can’t handle the cold as well as I used to.
It wasn’t raining here at 6:00am so I went to the box blind. Shortly after shooting light, the freezing rain started. Out one of my windows, I usually have a clear view but when the limb got heavy enough that I couldn’t see out of it, and I heard tree limbs start snapping, I decided it was time to head in.
