Misleading Rick.

Those aren't Americans who are fleeing the country to avoid high tax rates.
They are mostly expatriate Americans, already living in other countries, renouncing their citizenship.

Some are, some are not but most still say it is because of taxes. Even your link mentions some leaving because of higher taxes. This seems to be the piece both our links are based on and it mentions both.

Face it folks, our country is screwed up and instead of any of the political types fixing the problems they are all making them worse.

People are fleeing because of high taxes and not just on a national level. They are leaving high tax states too.

Instead of cutting waste, fraud, and over duplication in government they want to raise taxes or cut benefits.

We tax corporations and citizens on money they made overseas and have already paid that countries taxes on.

We have corporations that have to higher lawyers and get a waiver from one government agencies regulations so that they can meet another government agencies regulations.

We have government agencies actively pushing companies to buy cheaper, overseas made products for Medicare patients. You have to be hugely morbidly obese before they will cover the higher cost of an American made product.

We have unions striking because they want to control how many temp workers they can bring in, even if they are not needed.

I wonder about that myself. Mandatory service for a couple years might be a good thing. We've got guys over there in Afghanistan serving their tenth tour. It's too much to ask. Let the polititian's kid and the plumber's kid serve side by side. Might cause Washington to re-think a bunch of things.

We actually tried that with the draft in my day. Problem was, the politicians put in some "little deferments" that the smart boys could use to stay out of the service.
When they went to the Lottery system, it became a little more even, but I was in college, having to maintain a level of grades, and a minimum of hours, maintained a 40 hour work week, married, and had a kid on the way, and that wasn't quite enough.
Glad I went though. My personal education prospered about the ways of the world, and whats real and whats fantasy about the world that some people have never experienced.

Bush Tax Cuts were intended to be temporary, they had an expiration date. They were initially done to refund the surplus back to the tax payers, can anyone remember surplus. So let's all get our under britches in a wad cause now it is time to pay the piper for two wars and a bunch more spending.

And why the heck do we need so dam many aircraft carriers (basically why do we spend so much more on military spending than any other country 7:2 for the closest)? Seems like every other country in the world is getting by without a fleet of them.
