I emailed my rep earlier this evening and got a reply back within 4 minutes. Good news is, there is already a discharge petition being circulated. We just need to continue to make our reps aware this is what we want. My rep said he was the 3rd to sign it. I will ask him how much they have so far and report back.

Edited for update: 31 house members have signed the discharge petition as of 11 AM on the 22nd. Rep David Derby from Owasso is said to be leading this petition, and I got a reply to my email at nearly midnight tonight about it from him, so I can tell he's really interested and watching this. I believe 67 are required to bring it to the floor for a vote. This might make it out...next battle...the Senate.

I saw recently that Charles Smith, executive director of the Oklahoma Rifle Association, said ORA members were "split on the issue of open carry."

Thanks a lot, buddy. Even if that were true, why in the world would you tell the press??? So much for a unified front.

Kinda makes you wonder who's side they're on doesn't it. And by the way, where oh where is our beloved defender of our 2A rights, the NRA? A little "muscle flexing" by them should certainly be in order. Didn't hear much from them last year either.

They are working behind the scenes.
Bringing the NRA "Big Guns" in on this will bring to much national attention
which we don't want or need.
Too much attention and we will have people like Bloomberg and Brady down here telling us what to do.

That will need to be a for SUPPORT OF A DISCHARGE PETITION pursuant to HOUSE RULE 7.12. (Not yelling or being rude, just emphasizing.)

No problem. I already sent those emails, so too late for me to make that change , but hopefully the senators or their aide will get the message.Whether they will do anything about it is another issue, I suppose that depends on email and call volume they get, etc. etc.
Thanks for your help in shedding light on some of the byzantine processes that wrack our political houses.

Looking for the lumens
I spoke to the local GOP Vice Chair yesterday and he indicates that they are sure the petition will receive sufficient signatures to force the open carry bill out of the committee to the floor for debate.

Sue Tibbs is worthless. She's a RINO of the first order and thankfully she's term limited. Here's hoping someone truly conservative runs in her place next time. Very soon the GOP on the state level will begin holding votes of no confidence in representatives who do not vote as conservatives.

I no more believe that the NRA is doing anything productive behind the scenes than I believe that Comrade President will sign an Executive Order requiring all Americans to start carrying a firearm on a daily basis. The NRA is a money-sucking sham that rolls over for political expediency rather than standing firm on the principles they are intended to represent. ETA: Because it will come up, yes, they worked on Heller and blah, blah, blah. They only work for the 2A when they can win. Believing in the NRA is like feeding your family with lolipops and running your car on unicorn farts...but that's just how I feel. YMMV but, hey, change my mind.

And you're far from alone. They aptly demonstrated their attitudes to all with their performance in Heller and McDonald.

One thing i am kinda confused about if this passes are you still going to need a CCL to " conceal " ?

The version last year was an extension of the current law. You would still go thru all of the same steps to get there. Only difference was that you could carry concealed or open. So yes you would still need a permit.
