Kaye Beach. She is currently at the Capitol lobbying for the discharge petition for HB1647.

Interesting. Rep. Derby is in a meeting until Noon and his office said he would email or call me back as soon as he got out. I was pretty specific on which bill I was asking about in my previous emails, so I hope there is more than one going around. Although I'm supportive of the expansion of military rights in there, you are correct in the fact that HB1647 is not a good open carry bill.

I'll post when I get more information.

She says that while she is not there representing OK2A, it is the same petition.

I emailed my rep earlier this evening and got a reply back within 4 minutes. Good news is, there is already a discharge petition being circulated. We just need to continue to make our reps aware this is what we want. My rep said he was the 3rd to sign it. I will ask him how much they have so far and report back.

Edited for update: 31 house members have signed the discharge petition as of 11 AM on the 22nd. Rep David Derby from Owasso is said to be leading this petition, and I got a reply to my email at nearly midnight tonight about it from him, so I can tell he's really interested and watching this. I believe 67 are required to bring it to the floor for a vote. This might make it out...next battle...the Senate.

THanks for the update. I feel much better, at least for today.

This seems almost like a trap, to me, for the common citizen. Propose a bill that will place greater burden on the common citizen, and cloak the bill under the "open carry" label. Correct me if I am wrong, but if this is what is being supported then we need to rise up against it.
Thanks to veggie meat & owassopilot...it helps having folks like you tell us what is really going on.
I guess we need to support one bill HB 1470, and oppose the other one: HB 1647.

POliticians are to lawyers, what lawyers are to the general public.

I'll take HB1400 preferably, but will settle for HB1470.

I will work to have those who support HB1647 voted out of office.

I've heard that it is HB1647. I do not support that bill on open carry grounds.

If this is what OK2A is supporting as an "open carry" bill, then they just lost a lot of points with me as I was considering endorsing their open carry efforts.

UPDATE: YES, IT IS HB1647. Call your Reps and ask them to NOT sign the discharge petition on open carry grounds.

I just checked the Legislative update on the Ok2a site. HB1647 was not even mentioned.

The site did list HB1400 & HB1553 as their favorites, with HB's 1470,1652 & 2087 as pretty good. The site listed HB1796(Tibb's bill) as one to get tossed.

Correct, it wasn't mentioned on their site.

But they also haven't mentioned which bill they were pushing a discharge petition for. The only thing I have to go on is someone who was circulating a discharge petition for HB1647 and claims that she was circulating the same petition as OK2A.
