One other thing to consider is the fact that this community has changed over the years. There's many people that would vote "no", and share opinions, on this topic that are no longer here because of way this community has evolved...so this poll/discussion is biased in that way. That's why it's important to consider what we want for the future of this forum, because although making an "adult" forum won't affect much now...it will affect how this community grows and how it's perceived in the future. I like the filthy stuff just as much as anyone else, but I don't think OSA will grow to it's fullest potential if it's here.

If you want evidence, I have a meta-analysis about online forum evolution, community, and in-forum (member) to out-forum (non-member) community relationships. Looking at over 400 forums, and over 5 million people, one of the largest replicable effects is the negative relationship (with any outcome of choice) of adult-themed sub-forums...with one exception, in the case that the main forum is porn based to begin with. It's under review at the journal Science, so I can't share it yet...but it's coming.
Veggie Meat did you sign in with the wrong screen name?

We're still working on a plan for OSA. We'll be posting something about it soon.

I thought ya already had a plan? Yall need to get yalls act together. If it ain't broke what's to fix?

I'm thinking yall are just creating drama BS stuff to justify your ideas. Nothing has changed on this site since Bulbboy left....cep maybe more spam. If JB Books wants to "clean up" this site, cool. But from what I've seen since he bought the site is a site where ya can speak like a Okie, have a opinion like a Okie, and have fun.

This other moderating BS and disappearing threads is horseshit. Causes drama when there shouldn't be any. Drama is what slows traffic. Jokes, humor, epic threads and fun builds this community that calls itself OSA.

Yalls lucky I don't own OSA, I'd fire yalls ass for allowing my site to get like this or for creating a bunch of horseshit drama.

Not my site tho.

People keep mentioning that it wouldn't be seen unless the member asked. If they don't even know it is there, how can that ask for access to it? To a new member who has no idea what the "garbage disposal" forum is, and can't find it when looking, they will be completely lost when someone posts "this thread really belongs in the garbage disposal". Or hot box, or trash can, or biological waste container, or whatever you choose to name it.

Typically, you can see the forum name and a description of it (which may or may not contain instructions on how to gain access -- that typically includes a minimum amount of days of membership and minimum number of posts) but it will say "private" under the "last post" category and if you try to click on it a screen will pop up telling you you do not have permission to access that forum. Once a moderator opens access, then when you log on you will be able to see the threads and their content, just like you would any other forum on the board. It's not that you can't see the TITLE of the forum, it's that you can't see the CONTENTS of the forum.

It's pretty simple really. There is a function on OSA to limit access to any board I wish to limit a member from now. Just a click of a particular box and I can limit your access to any forum here ...

And there are threads here now that, when members click on them, they are told that link is no longer valid and they need to contact an administrator if they feel this is in error, so the function to move threads is obviously already here. Someone else has already mentioned that vBulletin has everything an IT guys needs to set up a private forum, so it's not like anyone is asking some super human feat from IT guys as talented as VeggieMeat or YukonGlocker ... they are both glad to share their credentials with anyone ... we are lucky to have such knowledge and expertise at our disposal.
